Home for the Holiday

by Fred Willey on 2009/12/17

ScorpionAll through the house, not a creature was stiring, not even a mouse.  Ok, a scorpion was my uninvited guest for the holiday – no it wasn’t stiring thanks to the cat, but it still scared the heck out of my wife when she almost sat on it.

Hard to believe it’s the middle of December and this year we are still finding scorpions in our homes.  At Invader Pest Management, we have had numerous calls this week from our customers finding scorpions in their homes.  I know that this year was particularly a heavy scorpion season in the Phoenix, Glendale and  Scottsdale areas, and that most scorpions found this time of the year are left over from the summer and fall season.  Of course when it started cooling down, the scorpions wanted the same thing we do – a nice warm place to hang their stocking for the winter, and they invite themselves into our homes, our storage, under cabinetry, in boxes, just about anywhere.  When people start unpacking Christmas decorations from stored boxes, bringing in firewood for the fireplaces, etc… they are taking the chance of releasing any hidden scorpions from their winter harborages.

However in our case, the cat probably brought our newest guest in as a present for mommy – ha ha ha.  Anyway,  it was time to get one of our guys out to the house, Yep – we have to have our house treated by a professional too, Nope – we still pay – employees don’t work for free  – darn it!

Darn scorpions, doesn’t matter whose house – they try to get in.
